Writing & Relationships

Happier Times

October 17th, 2018

I have been blessed to find someone who Loves me broken pieces and all. I know it has been a while since I did a post on here and thought I would give you a behind the writer look at what is changing in my life.

I made the drastic change not that long ago of leaving my former church. I had been a regular attending member for almost eleven years before God closed the door on my time with them. I found myself at a new church slowly building new friendships and becoming part of a new family. It was hard at first, and some days it still is a bit scary.

I have been plunged into a whole new world. I am loving the people who reside there with me and really enjoying my ministry too. It wasn’t long after my attending the new church that I found myself enjoying the warm hugs of one of the members. He was always so happy to see me and friendly. He gave me good hugs and plenty of them.

It was a strange turn of events that brought us together as a couple. I would even say it was a miracle from God. I wasn’t there looking to find someone and hadn’t planned on finding someone who was so like-minded as myself.

Then there was Onas…

Onas Hanekamp just worked his way into my life and my heart. I was trying hard not to love him, but God had other plans. So here I am today with a wonderful loving boyfriend that is very supportive of my writing career. I am truly blessed! With my NaNoWriMo deadline looming and book three in my Louise Green series about to take shape it feels terrific to have someone who supports me.

Deadlines are hard but hitting them alone is harder.

I have always struggled to meet my deadlines. I admit when I first started writing it took me a very long time to get anything written. Today it seems my words flow onto the page and my stories move along much faster. While I had learned to meet my deadlines on my own, it feels great to have someone cheering me on. It is easier to get my work done knowing I have a man who is behind me 100%.

For those who have no one to cheer them on, I suggest joining groups like the one I have on Facebook called Write For Me. Find like-minded people to help you with your writing journey. Beta readers, friends who cheer you on, and groups to belong to as you search for technical help are a must. Not everyone is blessed with a supportive spouse. For those who are struggling through a writing career without support, please reach out. I would love to help you on your journey.

Your Favorite Small Town Writer,

Deedra Mosley
